# Spring Planting and Pasture Rotation
Spring is one of the busiest times at Lakeshire Farm. The grass is growing, the animals are thriving, and we're implementing our rotational grazing system for the season.
## What is Rotational Grazing?
Rotational grazing means moving animals to fresh pasture regularly—sometimes daily. This gives grass time to recover, prevents overgrazing, and naturally fertilizes the soil.
## Benefits for the Land
- Builds topsoil and increases carbon sequestration
- Prevents erosion and compaction
- Increases biodiversity in pastures
- Reduces need for chemical fertilizers
## Benefits for Animals
- Fresh, nutrient-rich grass every day
- Reduced parasite loads
- More natural behavior and movement
- Better overall health
## This Season's Plan
We've divided our pastures into smaller paddocks and will be moving the cattle every 2-3 days. The pigs will follow behind, naturally tilling and fertilizing the soil. The chickens will come last, spreading manure and eating insects.
This integrated system mimics nature and creates a regenerative cycle that improves our land every year.
